How the Sound Therapy International, portable, Joudry program differs from other Tomatis based therapies

Patricia and Rafaele Joudry's Sound Therapy is a self help program which is easy and convenient to use. You do not need to see a practitioner, it can be used anywhere, any time, and we provide all the tools, information and support you need to use the program successfully.

Portable

Unlike most other sound therapies, including the system used in Tomatis clinics, our system is portable. Played through headphones on a portable player, it can be carried with you, played at low volume and does not interfere with daily activities or sleep.

Affordable

Compared to any clinical or practitioner delivered program, our self help method is extremely affordable, since there are no practitioner fees, clinic visits or testing to pay for. Our products are priced to be much more affordable than other forms of Tomatis therapy so that all those who need the system can gain access to it.

Easy

Sound Therapy is one of the easiest treatments available since no special skill or training is required to use it, and it takes no time at all out of your day!

Our program is simple to understand and use. One Basic Kit is suitable for all new listeners. There is no need to buy different programs for different family members as the Basic Kit addresses all conditions treated by Sound Therapy. (Families may choose the Family Kit instead which also includes story tapes for children.) Books, videos and other customer oriented resources make the program easy to understand and use for anybody.

Analogue Sound Quality

Our company is unique in that all our music is made from original analogue recordings. Leading opinions in music quality confirm that digital sound recording robs the music of its integrity and therapeutic impact, particularly in the high frequencies. Therefore we always seek to sustain and use in our recordings the best of analogue recording technology available.

Throughout the Sound Therapy literature we have emphasized the advantages of analogue sound.
Originally, our program was only available on cassette tape, because this enabled us to deliver a program in analogue sound, which is more true to its original form and therefore superior for therapeutic purposes.
However, since recent advances in technology, we have developed a way to use original analogue masters and filtering, but transfer the final album to CD for playback. Because of the very careful mastering and highest level technology used in the transfer process, we have achieved this with no apparent loss of therapeutic quality, as long as the original CD is used.
On our CDs the entire recording, mastering, activation and filtering processes are still carried out on analogue sound, using reel to reel tape and a full analogue studio.
We have always stood for the superiority of analogue sound, and we still do. Analogue sound is natural, whole sound, and this is important for the therapeutic process of Sound Therapy. Through our careful, highest quality reproduction methods, we can now provide a product with the advantages of analogue processing on a digital playback medium. This is how we do it.

The Sound Therapy process
Analogue live recording captures as much as possible of the true essence, variation and power — and of course the high harmonics — in the music.
Analogue Activation with Electronic Ear keeps the power and variation in tone intact. This process activates the ear muscles and stimulates the entire nervous system.
Analogue Progressive filtering reflects the natural sound heard in the womb, where the high frequencies are augmented and brain is energized, gradually training the ear and brain to greater gymnastic and acoustic heights.
Analogue Studio Mastering is a vitally important way to retain sound integrity while balancing and fine tuning the whole production.
Analogue to Digital conversion. This is the most important part of the final digital production and hence is done on the highest industry standard equipment in a world class sound reproduction studio.
Playback. This final stage of portable playback technology is now offered on a digital medium, as market changes mean that analogue (cassette) playback cannot be supported indefinitely. However, as there are also drawbacks with cassette technology, such as wow and flutter, tape wear, tape head wear and moving component parts, we believe the end result of doing this final stage on digital does not lose any net value, since we have maintained high quality analogue at every other stage of the production.
Myth: Digital to Digital conversion is perfect with no loss of quality. This is untrue. There are always errors in digital conversion, so the more often this process happens, the more errors there are. Therefore maintaining analogue technology up until the very last stage is the best way to ensure the therapeutic effect. Our company is unique today in using this process, as we closely follow the parameters determined by both Dr Tomatis and Patricia Joudry.
Myth:Digital audio programs can be copied on a computer and produce good quality sound. This is untrue. Although you can copy a CD on a computer, or download it on from the internet, the quality produced is far reduced compared to the sonic quality that is produced on a studio quality audio CD recorder. It is like comparing the mini cassette tapes that used to be used in answers phones to the reel to reel tapes and professional equipment used in sound studios.

Question: Which Program is best for me? We currently supply the program on either cassette or CD and also have high quality players available for both technologies to maximize your listening results. Please discuss with one of our consultants what options are currently available to best suit your needs.
